Faces of Culture

Just finished a new painting tonight that I'm really excited about! The other day, in my Humanities class, a girl mentioned this artist Stephen Bennett. I started looking at his work, and I was inspired to start painting faces of cultures! This is the first to my Culture collection :o)

A Vision of Spring

So I've been a busy bee over the past few weeks!

In class, we are working on a scratch board project which I almost finished. Next project is ink printing, and I have the idea of what I want to do, and I'm very excited about it!

At home, I have been all over the place lol!

A friend of mine turned me on to zines which are fun little booklets that you create entirely with whatever you want inside! After you're finished, you trade them with other people to get their zines... its alot of fun :o)

I've also been creating Easter decorations, garlands and such!

I had been working on two paintings... one was an interpretation of Buddha, and the other another close up of a Calla Lily. I am trying out different styles for all my paintings right now. The Calla Lily painting, I used a thicker texture. The Buddha, I am using a form of pointillism. I actually finished the Calla Lily this weekend! The Buddha is taking a loooong time to finish lol

And more and more lol but thats it for now :o)

I've been working on new jewelry designs lately... trying to branch off from what I was used to doing. This summer I intend to take classes for wire working. Eventually I hope to become a silversmith and glassblower! But here are some of my new creations...

Enchanted

So I was very excited by a new idea of a mixed media painting using moss to enhance, and add a three-dimensional effect to a painting... and this is the result of this idea! It turned out very fantastical! This is my first attempt at this style, and I'm happy with the results... but I want to create something better!

My Art Assignment: To re-create Philadelphia Wireman Art

If you don't know anything about the Philadelphia Wireman, visit this site!
Philadelphia Wireman Art.

The goal was to use materials from everyday scraps, trash, tools, wire, etc. I wanted to do more than re-create what the Wireman did so I opted to put my swing on it by doing a tribute to Philadelphia with the Brotherly Love symbol :o)
