Andy Goldsworthy
So in my art class today, I learned about a new artist who is unbelievable! Whenever I learn about these artists, I ask myself "Where the hell have been?" I feel like I don't know anyone... I always sort of stuck with my favorites. Thats why I love this class so much. It completely broadens my horizon. Anyway, so the artist is Andy Goldsworthy. He is this amazing artist who creates ephemeral art. For those of you who do not know, that means the art does not last forever. Most of his pieces are created in nature so the elements carry them away. Now most people may say, "What's the point?" But if you watch the process, you can easily see it... it is magical. Its as if it is getting carried to another world. I was truly inspired by him, and I could see me doing this in the future with my own art.
Here are some examples of his artwork...

Halloween
Due to my non-art classes taking up so much of my time, I haven't been able to do much creatively. But I made myself paint pumpkins for Halloween!!! Here's how they turned out...

And for some giggles, here are pictures of me (Professor Trelawney), my hubby (Hagrid) and my puppy (Harry Potter) in our Halloween costumes :oD

V
My Dad's birthday was this past week... its been extremely difficult to do anything this past week, but I wanted him to have something special... I did a painting of V from V for Vendetta, one of my Dad's FAVORITE movies. I really hope he liked it :o)

Clyde
I am absolutely devastated as I write this... this is our cat, Clyde. He had the loudest purr, it was so comforting to hear him around the house, and cuddling our faces purring so loudly. He was so affectionate, he used to reach up to paw our butts for attention, he loved to be with anyone, he loved everybody...
We lost him in the most awful way today, and I can't stop crying... He was mauled by two Alaskan Malamutes... I can't get the image out of my head of what happened, it happened so quickly ... and how sad his eyes were as he was suffering. I felt such a huge hole in my chest when the Vet said he was beyond help... and even as the doctor gave him medicine for the pain, he was doing his Clyde purr in the end. I just loved him so much... He was so amazing, and so different than any cat I have ever known. My heart is broken, and I will miss him so much... Clyde, you will be in my heart forever <3 :o(
RIP you beautiful, awesome Clyde 8/7/2011

Xibalba
Inspired by the movie "The Fountain" finally finished! I started this piece Winter of 2010, and I never had the inspiration to finish so I didn't because I didn't want to mess it up. It has been such an eye sore to see it hanging unfinished. But last night, I had extreme inspiration to finish it, and I'm glad I did :o)

My Art Assignment FINAL: To create a project and lesson suitable for Stage of Childhood Development of your choice
I chose to do a Symbol Making Stage project for 4th graders re-creating an Egyptian Mummy :o)
This was a tedious assignment, but I loved every second of it! I challenged myself to try new creative avenues, and that is what I love about art classes :o)
This is the final product!

Easter :o)
Its been awhile since I have updated! Since my last post, I have been working on many projects! Finished up school, and started summer!
While Corey and Sha were visiting, we painted and dyed Easter Eggs! I re-created famous pieces of art... and I was so excited with how they turned out! A few were saying I should have painted uncooked eggs, and drained them... which I hadn't even thought of... I didn't even know thats what I was going to do... oh well, maybe I will try it that way next year :o)
Here's my Eggs!

Here's Sha's Eggs!

We had alot of fun while they were here, and we get so bummed when they leave :o( but it is so good to see them :o)
Here are some pics from their visit!
